Privacy policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains how Genisus Extreme Media (Pty) Ltd, trading as GSRC (Global SimRacing Channel) (“GSRC”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through gsrc.gg and in providing our sim racing broadcast services.

We are based in South Africa and process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. What we collect

When you contact us through gsrc.gg. Your name, email address, the reason for contact you select, and your message. We use this only to reply to you and to discuss our services.

When you apply to work with us (commentators, directors, crew), by email or the contact form: the details you send us, such as your name, contact details, experience and links to your work. We use these to assess your application and to contact you.

When we broadcast your event. Our broadcasts show information that league organisers and iRacing provide or publish: driver and team names, numbers, results and standings. Commentators and presenters appear on camera and on mic. Broadcasts are published on YouTube and shared on our social media channels.

Website usage. gsrc.gg is hosted on Framer. Framer may process technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site securely. We use two analytics tools to see how the site is used:

  • Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies to record the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser, and your approximate location. Google processes this data on our behalf. You can block it in your browser’s cookie settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

  • Framer’s built-in analytics, which records anonymous page-visit statistics.

We do not use advertising cookies or session recording, and we do not sell personal information.

2. Google user data (our internal YouTube tools)

GSRC runs internal tools that use Google APIs (YouTube Data API, YouTube Analytics API, Google Sheets API and Google Drive API) to manage our own YouTube channel and production files: creating and updating our live-stream listings, reading performance statistics for our own videos, and reading our own scheduling spreadsheets and broadcast graphics.

  • These tools are used only by GSRC staff, signed in with GSRC’s own Google accounts.

  • They access only GSRC’s own channel, spreadsheets and files. They do not access any other person’s Google account data.

  • Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to run GSRC’s broadcasts and to report on our own channel’s performance. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not transferred to anyone except as needed to provide those functions or as required by law.

  • GSRC’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements.

  • Access can be revoked at any time from the Google account’s security settings (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions).

3. Our social media tools (Meta, LinkedIn and X)

GSRC uses its own apps on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn and X to manage our own pages and accounts and those of our parent company, Genisus Extreme: publishing and resharing our posts, liking posts between our own accounts, and reading performance statistics for our own pages.

  • These apps are used only by GSRC staff, signed in with accounts that manage our own pages.

  • They read and act on our own pages and posts. The page statistics they read are aggregated by the platform. We don’t use these tools to collect personal information about the people who follow or interact with our pages.

  • Data obtained this way is used only to run and report on our own channels. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared except as required by law.

  • To ask about or delete any data we hold, email gsrc@genisusextreme.com (see section 7). You can also remove an app’s access from your Facebook, LinkedIn or X settings at any time.

4. Why we process it (POPIA lawful basis)

  • To respond to you and provide services you ask for (pre-contract steps and contracts).

  • Our legitimate interests: running and promoting broadcasts, and reporting on our own channel.

  • Legal obligations: for example, tax and accounting records.

  • Consent, where we ask for it. You can withdraw it at any time.

5. Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run the business, under appropriate safeguards: our email and file hosting (Google Workspace), website hosting and analytics (Framer and Google Analytics), payment processing (Yoco), and the platforms where broadcasts are published (YouTube and our social channels). Some of these process data outside South Africa. Where they do, we rely on their contractual and legal protections, as POPIA permits.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and applications: up to 2 years after our last contact, unless you become a client or contractor.

  • Client and contractor records: as long as needed for the relationship and for 5 years afterwards, in line with tax and accounting requirements.

  • Published broadcasts remain on our channels as part of the event record.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to its processing, and withdraw consent. Email our Information Officer at gsrc@genisusextreme.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): https://inforegulator.org.za.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. Access is limited to people who need it, and credentials are kept on secured systems.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date shows the current version.
